Expansion Housing Lotteries
Once the Expansion goes live (September 4th, 2021) players will now have the ability to visit a new expansion region in the world of Avadon

However, for the first 30 days the expansion is live, placing new houses in this expansion region will have several restrictions and requirements, which will be described below

Expansion Standard (Land-Based) Housing
The new expansion region has enough space to accomodate around 3500 houses of 8x8 size

During the first 30 days of the expansion, the following rules are in effect for placing standard (land-based) houses within the new expansion region:

  • Players can only place houses with an 8x8 base such as "Small Andarian Stone House" (players can see the size listed for each house type in the Real Estate Broker NPC menu or via the House Survey Tool menu)
  • Players cannot Demolish, Transfer, or Sell any houses in the expansion region
  • In order to place a house in the region, players must also have a Settlement Pass in their backpack that is bound to them (in addition to the house deed itself) which will be consumed on placement

Once the initial 30 day period is over, all normal rules for housing (including placement, transfers, sales, etc) return to normal

Settlement Passes
  • Settlement Passes are Blessed
  • Settlement Passes are Bound to a specific character (any character on that account can use the pass, however)
  • Placing a house in the expansion region consumes the player's Settlement Pass in their backpack as well as consumes the house deed being using (which can only be an 8x8 House type)

Acquring Settlement Passes
Players have two ways to acquire Settlement Passes:

Loot Drops
During the first 30 days of the expansion, when players kill creatures within the new expansion region (including Shadowspire Cathedral dungeon), there is a very small chance they will encounter a Settlement Pass as loot on the creature's corpse

Settlement Passes that drop as loot on a creature's corpse will be randomly bound to a player who damaged the creature, with chances scaled based on how much damage each player did (including their followers) to the creature

Chances for creatures to drop a Settlement Pass will scale with creature difficulty

Settlement Lottery
Starting several weeks before the expansion goes live, players will be able to enter a Settlement Lottery to win Settlement Passes (drawings for passes will begin the day of the expansion)

Settlement Lottery
The Settlement Lottery is a daily lottery players can enter to win Settlement Passes

Settler NPCs
will be stationed near the Banks of each town, and players can access the Settlement Lottery menu by saying "Lottery" near them or by double-clicking the NPC itself

Entering the Settlement Lottery
  • Players can pay 10,000 gold to enter into the Settlement Lottery by clicking the "Join Settlement Pass Lottery" button
  • Players can only join the Settlement Lottery with one character on their account
  • Characters must be at least 30 days old in order to enter the Settlement Lottery
  • Players can only enter this lottery if they do not currently have a house on that account (Rental Rooms do NOT count as a house for this restriction)
  • If a player later places a house after entering the lottery, they will not be removed from the lottery, however they will simply be ignored for any lottery drawings while they still have a non-Rental Room house on their account
  • Players are allowed to be in both the Settlement Lottery and Mooring Lottery (explained later), but are only allowed to win one of them

Resolving the Settlement Lottery
  • At the 5pm EST each dayfor 30 days after the expansion goes live, 100 random players in the Settlement Lottery will win a Settlement Pass, which will be placed in their backpack and bound to them
  • Players will receive an immediate notification for all characters on their account that one of their characters has won the Settlement Lottery
  • Players will also upon login be reminded if they have an unused Settlement Pass currently on a character on their account
  • If a player wins a Settlement Pass, they will be removed from the Settlement Lottery and their account will no longer be able to re-enter it
  • If a player does not win a Settlement Pass on a specific day, they will remain in the lottery, and will still be eligible to win on subsequent days (i.e a player will only need to enter the lottery once)
  • Players will not be refunded the 10,000 gold spent to join the lottery if they do not win a house over the 30 day period
  • Any player that wins the Settlement Lottery will NOT be able to win the Mooring Lottery (explained later)

Expansion House Boats
The new expansion region has 163 House Boat locations, split between Anchor's Rest (63) and the Overworld (100)

During the first 30 days of the expansion, the following rules are in effect for placing House Boats within the new expansion region:

  • Players may place any size houseboat at the new locations
  • The cheapest house boat is 1,000,000 doubloons

Once the initial 30 day period is over, all normal rules for House Boats (including transfers, sales, etc) return to normal
