Feedback: Too unfriendly to new players

as for pks and newbs, yeah im guilty of this. and it was unfortunately a lot of mischievous fun. i like adventuring in the game, not dungeons like i said at all, and sometimes not just in horseshoe bay.

so i adventure around, and my backstabber was 70 stealth and 90 hiding. i hide in a place in the winter area where miners come often, and wouldnt you know, a treasure hunter gets there. i stealth closer hoping it wont break, he makes short work of the monsters that spawn, i wait a while for him to loot some things from the chest, then i go at it. he doesnt respond directly, and especially being mounted he can just run away from me flawlessly, and with being a poison dexxer i have no chance of getting closer. by the way, i dont like those adventure ropes and exploding pouches, its just how i am. he tries to send his pets on me and fails. then i go to rest my pvp timer off and then i run back only to see he wants to loot his chest more lol, but i fail the pk yet again.

these are the sorta stories id like to hear more about. ive also stealthed close to people or just on a normal char to pk with them, and all they do is try to cast greater heal? i hope at least for 1 ive made them start a pk to enjoy the fun.

It is very clear you care deeply about the game and you have taken the time to reflect on both the good and the difficult parts of your experience. You bring up a couple valid concerns, for example... the strength of Magery and the utility it provides to mana based builds are unmatched. Playing a non magery based build has built in disadvantages right from the get go. That is something many players agree with, even if Outlands has made some of the biggest strides in bringing up non magery based builds to be on more of an equal footing with magery based ones. The utility advantage is just massive.

At the same time, a lot of the situations you describe also show places where a adjustments could be made to your gameplay to make the game feel less punishing. Things like having tools ready for paralyze, using explosion potions to reveal hidden players when needed, and even just finishing out leveling important skills to compete in PvP are just a couple examples of this. You also actively decide to continue farming in the most PK prone and hostile environment (the wilderness) because you like the sense of freedom. Nothing wrong with this... but you need to understand that the speed of the wilderness (recall and mounts) give you absolutely zero room for error. Dungeons are much more forgiving, even if you don't like them... it's like your jumping straight into 'Hell' mode in game options.

None of this is meant to dismiss what you are saying. Your stories show you are exploring, meeting people, trying builds, helping new players, and finding fun in the freedom that makes UO unique. You clearly enjoy the sandbox aspect of the game and you want it to grow in ways that support more playstyles.

But, I would encourage you to keep experimenting and to keep improving your gameplay where you can. There are many ways to survive and thrive here once the mechanics become more familiar. I wish you the best as you continue on the shard.

like seriously, no one uses good quality weapons or armour, because they just get pkd then. so you made the essence system for magic items. now when i get one i just get disapointed. especially in diablo 2, getting an item drop, before the lod expansion, was fun. rare items, sets, uniques, real fun. even with the remaster i still get a big smile from getting a charm, real good idea there. but here? the only real fun is in pking.
I'm going to put aside the fact that this paragraph contains several disconnected ideas and just focus on one thing. Where do you get the impressoin "no one uses good quality weapons or armour"? Who have you talked to that tells you this? Why do you have this impression?

Strange as it may sound, I think answering that specific question is going to shed a lot of light on your entire post, and your perspective as a whole.

5 to 10 min (or more? 1 hour maybe) resurrection cooldown if you are red/gray(thief) would increase their risk to do activities by a lot and in return make them think twice before risking their time. Might reduce the number of active red roaming, I think.
