Forges in Dungeons

I'd like to suggest putting forges in dungeons near minable areas.
  • Getting pack animals around safely in a high-risk area makes you too easy of a target.
  • Without packies, one backpack of ore isn't quite worth it.
  • Allows miners an opportunity to be near guild PvM groups
  • Could ease competition for wilderness mining nodes during prime time
  • Gives PKs a new type of juicy target
  • Could give rise to the stealth miner template!
Thank you for your time.

Yeah! I would also like to suggest putting banks in dungeons near boss areas.
  • Getting the gold out of a dungeon is too risky.
  • It would be easier to be resurrected and gear back up from a bank.
  • Allows players an opportunity to be near the new dungeon rock miners.
  • Could remove much of the bank sitters.
  • Gives PKs a new type of dry target.
  • Could give rise to lazy, low risk adventurer!
Thank you for your time as well.

Having a bad day? I gather you don't like the suggestion, but your nonsensical response indicates you think putting forges in dungeons would somehow make things less risky. It actually does the opposite. It may take you a few minutes to think it through, but I believe in you.

Edit: Actually, after reading a handful of your forum posts... I can see I'm wasting my time. I wish you the best of luck finding a solution to your general negativity.

Epic!

*waiter* HELLO! My name is Owyn, I'll be your server tonight! Do you know what you want to order?

*insert generic nobody" Yes, I want anything and everything all of the time

he suggested literally one thing and guys like you come out of the woodwork to moan and groan about it

I was thinking the same thing. Forges in dungeons would be great. I like the idea of thematic risk taking for mining in a dungeon. And the risk keeps increasing every time you use the forge instead of going home [inn or bank].

Since we can't recall out just anywhere in the dungeon, I'll be white knuckling it as I run for the gate with 10k ingots! whoooouuuuuu deep exhale!

Brilliant. hope to see this implemented

I was thinking this would increase stealth pk waiting at the dungeon forges. *chuckles* Tracking - On

Why do you need a forge in a dungeon?

1. Are you trying to gain Blacksmithing skill faster?
2. The experience bonus for dungeons applies to Blacksmithing so everyone would want to macro their Blacksmithers in a dungeon.
3. What's wrong with crafting in town, why put your items at risk?
4. Do you want a forge in the entrance to Shelter Dungeon as well? Blacksmithing, Tailoring and the crafting skills are quite desirable so ideally you'd want it difficult to raise.

I see no reason to put forges in dungeons, I can however see them being put in mining caves in the Overland but if I remember correctly there already are forges there. Has been on all other shards.

I also see no reason _not_ to put forges in dungeons, I think I speak for everyone when I say it's a silly idea though. Practically noone will be using them unless exploiting the experience bonus gain. Is that your hidden agenda?

Crafting is inherently a casual thing to do and there is no benefit to having forges in the dungeon. Crafters are made to farm society jobs anyway.

You completely missed the bus here. This has nothing to do with crafting. I'm suggesting forges be put in dungeons so miners can smelt ore to reduce weight and stay in the dungeon longer.

Blacksmiths also need anvils to craft and I'm not suggesting they add those... just the forges... for smelting.

Greetings Populus,

Im gonna speak from my perspective and others might have a different reason for wanting this.

When we recall, we have to wait 60 seconds until we can start mining. Mining up to max carry weight doesn't take long. When in the wilderness there is forges in mines and at folks homes but not in dungeons.

Dungeons are fun, yes! Exploration, monsters, locked chest and even watching other players clear areas is so fun. Miners in dungeons would be another element to the experience. Good news, ill rez fallen player :D. hmm name change token - Samuel the Wandering Healer, Grandmaster Miner. *chuckles*

Going to a fro to town because im over weight makes dungeon mining not so fun. I mostly mine in a dungeon actually. I mine inside the dungeon and then run outside to use near by forges. I have mined in dungeon level 2 before where other players are fighting [clearing the area] hehehe. I have considered trying to get to the bottom of Ageis just to experience mining down there and trip other players out.

That being said, the deeper you go the longer it takes to run back and forth, so it's not so useful to mine beyond level 1 in my opinion aside from enjoying the unique mining visualization. The breaking point is if it takes 60 seconds to go and come back then why bother going deeper in the dungeon to mine ore. To enjoy the excitement of mining deeper in a dungeon we would need forges to smelt the ore so we can stay down there longer.

Here is a practical parable - Imagine only being able to carry 15k gold you might >not< want to fight until you're deeper in a dungeon so you can enjoy the [visual thematic] exploration. Or we can figure out ways to increase our gold carrying capacity via strongbox. Upbrading strongboxes 1 & 2 is great! and yet it increases the risk of going bust and loosing it all, or getting robbed by thieves :) Likewise having forges in dungeons would increase the exposure of risk vs reward.

As for experience, that is a bonus but not what im focused on.

Again others might have a different interpretation why they would want this.

I should note im very partial to this as we created a kickstarter project for 3d printable tabletop gaming terrain with elements of mining in an underground world.

Blessings

It's very niche, but I hear what you're saying.

You can however bring 5 pack animals.
Interesting idea. I dont know anything about tamed pets so perhaps they can be leveled up? I know on OSI they have an imbue pet program. This allows some pets to level up to 5 slots. Some pets have limited advancement to level 3 and some couldn't be leveled up at all. If I remember correctly pack animals could not be leveled up.

That would be really dangerous running around with a pet slot 1 pack animals in a dungeon I suppose.

That being said, I generally use 2 earth elementals to stand guard against level 1 dungeon mobs.

I think this is a great idea, and especially like the idea of smelting in lava.

I don't know why it seems to have attracted some of the stupidest trolls on the server, who seem to not even understand what is being suggested.
