  • When a player activates a Weapon Aspect from the Aspect menu, or uses the [AspectWeapon command, it will apply that aspect to any equipment the player is holding in their hands, whether its a Weapon or a Spellbook (no longer has to be a weapon specifically)

  • Fixed a rare, outlier case where Mastery Chain Links for Damage on Ships and Ship Cannon Damage could apply against player ships
  • Changed the weight of Small Ship Bombs to 1 stone (previously was 3)

Free-Docking
  • Docking a ship at a land location (and not at a Dockmaster) is now known as "Free-Docking"
K1enwTp.png

  • Crafting a bulk stack of an item in most cases will not grant skill gain as the minimum skill requirement for the bulk option is set so players have 100% success chance when crafting; i.e. players will never fail to craft bulk stacks, and therefore skill gain chance will be 0% on them (no change)

Performance Updates
We have made a large number of performance improvements on the server that should result in less "lag spikes" for players and potentially better pings across the board

Additionally, we have disabled or altered several features on the server that were shown to be causing disproportionately large memory issues and affecting server performance

We while realize that players may have enjoyed these features, ensuring that the server performs as optimally (and lag-free) as possible for all players remains our top priority

Book of Grudges and Book of Grifts
  • Books of Grudges and Books of Grifts for players will now only track weekly stats, and will each week reset for players during Friday Night Reset
  • We have made this change after profiling and discovering that the sheer amount of data being stored by these items was taking up nearly 5% of the server's entire memory usage (contributing to poor server performance and ultimately affecting player pings)
  • We will look at potentially adding Outlands Portal support for more robust tracking of individual player vs player interactions in the future, however
cWrvGOs.png

Societies
  • We have removed the Ranking system for Societies that would rank a player's total Lifetime Points earned in each society compared to other players, as it was causing massive amount of performance load on the server
lM73yDv.png

Achievements
  • We have removed the Ranking system for Achievements that would rank a player's total Lifetime Points earned in each achievement category compared to other players, as it was causing massive amount of performance load on the server

  • Dread Lord (Reaching Dread Lord Status)
  • Beastmaster (Taming Unique Creature Types)

  • Animal Bond (Reach Level 10 With Tamed Creatures)

Storage Shelves
  • The Activity Log for players adding/removing items for a Storage Shelf will now show item activity occuring within the previous 48 hours (previously was 7 days)
  • When performing a Restock of a Storage Shelf, a Shepherd Crook that is set as the player's "Active Shepherd's Crook" will not be considered for restocking

Shepherd's Crook
  • Players can now shift-click a Shepherd's Crook (in their backpack or equipped) to either Activate it or Deactivate it for the player
hQJKh2l.png

  • Effectively, lower level enemy creatures will cast AoE Spells less than before and will have a much more linear curve impacting their chances as their Magery scales upwards

Player Spells
  • Players will now see a system message when they cast Curse, Mana Drain, or Mana Vampire on a creature target (to allow them to create Cooldown Bars for them)

Followers

Dude, a couple weeks into the year, fresh off the Holidays, following up a huge content patch, and they quietly drop a beefy QoL & tidy-up patch. Things have been quiet, I
thought maybe everyone was taking a break. Guess not. Love this server.
  • Unpopular opinion, maybe, but I like the aspect swapping nerf. Frost in particular always felt kind of broken to me, the way it was working.
  • The bulk crafting options are amazing. Going to save lots of time on societies and everything else.
  • Losing the tracking on some systems and shortening the scope of some records is too bad, but I understand why those may have had significant impacts on performance. Hopefully we'll see a benefit!
  • The progress bar for boss mechanics is huge. That's going to be a great benefit to everyone participating in that content (everyone who actually helps on mechanics, at least.... =)).
  • The redline customization is excellent. I've heard that requested a lot lately. Nice to see it happen.
  • Challenger dungeon needed a shot in the arm. Well done.
  • The player spell notification opens up some nice possibilities, I like that the team is of the philosophy that more notifications are better. I'd really love to see a notification for when a rope is successfully targeted and cast.
  • Context menu entry for Trade is such a great feature. Feels like something that should have always existed. No more opening trades with kindling or whatever. Great idea.
  • Dying recall runes makes me way happier than it has any right to.
Bravo to all involved, and thanks for your work.

Another unpopular opinion: I've been reading a bit about people who are upset that their ability to solo Time has been severely diminished. To that I say, Good. You should not be able to progress in Time by yourself. The intended design is definitely that a group work together to clear the dungeon and overcome the challenges. You can solo basically everything else in this game, it is healthy and good design to require a group for certain content.

We can look to other MMOs for examples. We don't have to emulate them, of course, but we can see what works and what doesn't. There are very few instances of end-game raids or other content which are intended for groups being beaten solo. It happens occasionally, but it usually results in a reaction from the design team to fix what they perceive to be an issue. Content becoming obsolete due to expansions/power creep doesn't really count here.

If people are worried that Time will be even more difficult even in a group with these changes, awesome. That's the point of the place, to challenge you to develop tactics and strategies to overcome the obstacles. Having a system or feature in a game that trivializes some challenge is unhealthy. If you NEED frost to survive in Time, maybe your composition needs to be reviewed, or your positioning, or any number of things.

Some might ask, why is this 'unhealthy'. It is because it significantly narrows the design space available. If there are abilities that answer every problem, it becomes impossible to create interesting scenarios for the player to overcome.

I think a lot of time players are just thinking about how changes like these will affect the results or outputs of the game, when they should be thinking about how they affect the actual experience.

Can there be an exception for Tmaps regarding the harvest change?. Having to wait 60 seconds after you kill all the mobs before you can pick the chest leaves you really exposed.

Can there be an exception for Tmaps regarding the harvest change?. Having to wait 60 seconds after you kill all the mobs before you can pick the chest leaves you really exposed.
Something tells me tmaps are the exact reason why this change came into place.

Great change, loving every bit of it.

You literally do not have to wait 60s to pick a map if you just use your aspect. Harvest Aspect still works in PvM, though maybe it should get XP for it now too?

The implication for tmapping is really lame, having to wait 60 seconds to active the aspect meant for it seems like a design flaw.
On one hand, the incentive is to focus on one characters, mainly because of chain xp (echos, customizations), but for tmaps now the incentive is to multibox, that's mixed signals.

What this change does is to further disincentivize the regular player to do tmaps, and instead sell it to a couple of power players that have the setup (automated) to do them multiboxing.

I'm also a bit mystified by the railroading of the game systems, why not allow the flexibility and instead balance it? A lot of pvm patches are just that, limiting what can be done. The fun of the complex interactions of the game system is figuring them out and using them effectively.

The changes look good. Really appreciate the ability to put items inside chest, crates, bags etc to help with a thematic look in the home.

I have an issue where the Magic Item Vault, Repair Bench and Wardrobe will not open from inside a container. I have them locked down inside the Glowing Barrel. When I double click them, I get the message you cannot pick that up.

If I change the container setting to 'secure' double clicking will then send those items to my backpack.

I get why fortune aspect.. I get why frost/lightning.. to not use it just before taking dmg or xp and changing aspect on last second.. but why harvest.. is tmaping with onr character really that issue? And honestly.. I would be even okay with it.. if I could farm woth harvest aspect.. but killing mobs with harvest aspect is just wasting xp.. I also may understand if its for future Tmap change but until its changed why do it with harvest? I dont see any reason towards it.. could anybody explain?

Outlands players will exploit if left a loophole. Often it may just be done for consistency across all aspects that have an xyz timer

Luthius is aware of this issue and is working on a fix. He mentioned today he thought he found the root cause.
