Many good changes, runescriber, stable changes, ready to test the animal changes too with so many of those strange cooldown abilities being swapped to passive, I imagine that'll mean a lot more synergy for things like spiders. Good to see.

nice. outlands is huge. but, please, consider review that treasure map... pks cant have a treasure chest anymore.... this is definitly not nice

Is that really the only faction change? Have you ever logged into the game?
You can join every faction on the same account.

You can join every faction on the same account. Helloooo?
I’d encourage you to provide some actual, constructive feedback about what you think should be changed and how exactly that would work. You’re also welcome to send your feedback directly to Luthius.

Passive-aggressive comments like this aren’t particularly helpful.

"You can join every faction on the same account"

Also gave a long constructive feedback to Luthius a week ago. He replied with "I have no idea what to do"

Good?

(this is longer than it felt in my head. Oh well. Sorry for the wall of text.)

I know anything I say on this is going to come off as biased. I am biased. As "The Travel Agent" ths directly impacted something I spent a __lot__ of time doing.
So I’m only going to make the argument once, because I genuinely think this is the wrong direction for Outlands even if I weren’t the person likely most negatively impacted by it.

"The Transcribing Tool should not exist, but especially not as a cheap prev merchant item."

The problem isn’t really that runebooks can now be copied more easily. The problem is that something players were doing for other players was taken out of their hands and replaced with a cheap server-provided gold sink.
That is less player agency, not more.

Before this change, somebody had to make the books. Grab the runes. Then travel around the world and mark them with the real risk of PKs(I probably die 4-5 times per week to PKs). Then another player bought the finished product because they valued their own time more than the gold it cost them.
That is an economy.

And if the argument is that “people were just scripting it anyway,” I don’t think that really holds up. The server is effectively running the script now. You put in an empty book, pay a fee, and the server performs all of the tedious work for you.
Automation wasn't removed. It was just taken away away from the players and turned it into a Prev merchant service.

If the goal was to make this process less tedious, I think there were much better ways to do it while keeping the activity inside the player economy. Make some kind of copying device that requires a tinker to craft. Require a scribe with sufficient Magery and Inscription to operate it. Consume blank scrolls, recall reagents, charges, whatever makes sense. There were a hundred ways to streamline this while creating more reasons for players to need each other, or at least keep based in the standard game functions.
Instead, the solution was basically: give the server some gold and it does it for you.

I think Outlands has a somewhat unhealthy relationship with scripting in general. UO contains an enormous amount of repetitive, tedious shit. That has always been true. Some people enjoy doing those things manually. Some people automate them. The important distinction should be whether that automation is damaging the game.
Scripting a miner 24/7 who is generating resources while nobody is there? Obviously a problem.
Automating combat to farm mobs? Obviously a problem.
But taking resources produced by players and using them to create a product another player wants is not the same thing. That is fundamentally a crafting/service activity. The fact that somebody found a way to automate portions of the labor doesn’t suddenly make the activity harmful to the economy.

I think the thing that bothers me most is that this removes exactly the kind of weird little player interaction that makes UO what it is.
I cannot count how many people paid me significantly more than I asked for when buying runebooks. Sometimes hundreds of thousands more. Not because I tricked them into it or because they had no other option. They did it because they appreciated that some nut job had spent the time putting together a product they really didn’t want to make themselves.
That interaction is valuable.

I made gold doing something ridiculous that I happened to enjoy building a system around. Other players got something useful without having to spend hours doing it themselves. Scribes sold books. Players supplied runes and resources. People traded sets around. Everybody involved got something out of it.
That is UO.

The server should be looking for opportunities to create more of those interactions, not identifying tedious things players have turned into businesses and replacing them with NPCs that do the same thing for 15k gold.

Convenience is good, but every time convenience removes another reason for players to interact with one another, the world becomes a little less of a sandbox and a little more of a game where the server provides everything you need.
I don’t think that is a good trade :/

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk lol

A lot of great changes that will directly impact my day to day game play experience. Thank You!

Now that we know you have the technology,
how about this?

as similarly previously pointed out with the aspect item tome,
the 'a skill mastery tome' has a skill mastery orb on it's cover...

Awesome!!

Been waiting for the pet broker stuff baby, love it!

If possible, could we make the sales page able to be pulled up all the time? Mainly incase it gets closed accidentally, but i do a lot with the broker, so being able to pull up my sales sheets at anytime would be amazing,

Also would be great if you could still hit info on the sold tames from the receipt list/page.

Could add creature broker to Jakesh, just like the stablemaster and barkeeps. Would be handy!
Cheers
