The Gronch is Coming to Town

It has been two years since the Gronch was last seen in Avadon. At the time, the evil Quell Avath resurrected the corpse of the previously-vanquished Gronch in an effort to bring chaos to the Kingdoms of Avadon. The good and brave adventurers of the lands banded together and fought Quell Avath and the undead Gronch upon the ice lake in Cavernam, dealing a decisive blow to evil that day.

But it would seem that death is elusive for the mighty Gronch...

Rumors abound regarding a gathering of the Master Reanimators of the Mausoleum piecing together the now twice-killed Gronch!

The Gronch's flesh long since decayed, the Master Reanimators have been busy scrounging the depths of the Mausoleum for whatever body parts, flesh, and entrails they could get their hands on to rebuild this formidable foe. Infused with fel magics, this fleshy, pulpy Gronch might be the strongest version of himself yet.

But the most disturbing rumor is that the denizens of the Mausoleum intend to send the Gronch to Prevalia itself, perhaps in an effort to ruin the holiday season and strike a devastating blow to morale for all Avadonians!


All brave adventurers of Avadon, you are hereby summoned to the defense of our beloved city, and the holiday season itself, on Saturday, December 11th at 4pm EST!

We must not let this dreaded Yuletide fiend win!

The Gronch will be coming to Prevalia on Saturday, December 11th at 4pm EST.

In traditional Gronch fashion, there will be unique items to find.

As with any such large and chaotic event, it is advised that you do not bring anything that you are unwilling to lose.

The regular town guards are too terrified of the fearsome Gronch's reputation and will not aid players in their battle against this fiend. The guards will still be on the lookout for criminals and murderers, though.

I wrote this last year at christmas during the holiday bell event. seemed like a good spot to put a copy, though sadly the Gronch didn't visit last year.


Gronchmas




Twas the eve before the holiday in Avadon this night

All the players were out hunting bell's and tickets all hoping for one sight

The deco hunters searched the Prevalia Merchant with care

Looking for another item to place over here or over there

The children were snoozing and all tucked away

Not playing on Outlands, at least that's what the rules say

My old lady in her hoodie, and me at the sink,

Were finishing the dishes and printing holiday pics before we ran out of ink

I had just sat at the desktop when on the left monitor arose a scene

I clicked over to it quickly to see what it could mean.

Player Avatars were running frantically all going back and forth

Some heading down left to the south others up right to the north

I geared up my dexxer and stepped out to stop someone and finally got a ghost

He of all was safest to stop and by chance told me the most

The Gronch was back in Outlands down south of the old caves

And he was taking all comers, he didn't care if they were warriors, mages, or naves

I called to my lady and on her laptop she logged in her mage

Together we headed south to see how set was the stage

The scene when we arrived was quite a bloody brawl

Most PC's were dying quickly though several ran off with whatever they could haul

Just as we decided to join in the Gronch yelled out, “Stop”

He stepped back pulling out a red holiday hat and on his head he put it atop

He said, “Happy Holidays to you fighters of Avadon this night,

Now get ready and get back over here cause I really wanna fight.”

The Gronch does hold a special place during the holidays in Avadon. That place is atop many player corpses.
