Aetheric Purity Research (Tidal Tomb Pre-Launch Event)
As water begins to flow from the Tidal Tomb into the surrounding lands, scientists begin to research its unique Aetheric properties and hope to discover the legendary source of "pure water." Players are called upon to collect Aetheric Water samples and help contribute to this research effort!

The Aetheric Purity event begins November 8th at 11AM EST and will run until Saturday, November 15th at 11AM EST.

Once the event concludes, the Tidal Tomb Dungeon will become open to players!

How Do I Participate?
Aetheric Water

  • Players will encounter Aetheric Water samples as uncommon loot from most gameplay systems (Killing Creatures, Dungeon/Treasure Map Chests, Ship Holds, etc)
  • Aetheric Water samples are NOT blessed but cannot be stolen
  • Aetheric Water samples are bound to the player who they appear as loot for, and cannot be used by anyone else
  • Aetheric Water samples will expire (delete) 48 hours after they appear unless used in the event

Aetheric Purity
  • Each Aetheric Water sample has a randomly assigned Aetheric Purity value (listed as aP) that ranges from 1.0 to 14.0
  • Players will later combine 3 different Aetheric Water samples and attempt to create a Combined Sample that averages 7.0 Aetheric Purity (aP) between the three samples
aethericpurityresearch3.png

Aetheric Researcher and Research Cart
  • Once a player has collected at least 3 Aetheric Water samples, they can bring them to Yaric the Aetheric Researcher NPC located in Prevalia Bank and Corpse Creek Bank
  • Players can double-click the NPC or say "Event", "Tidal", or "Aether" near them to launch the Event Menu menu
  • Players can also double-click the nearby Aetheric Research Cart to launch the Event Menu

Combining Aetheric Samples
  • The research effort to discover the legendary source of "pure water" requires players to combine 3 different samples of Aetheric Water and aim to have the average Aetheric Purity (aP) value of the 3 samples as close to 7.0 as possible
  • Players can click the "Add" button next to each sample slot and target an Aetheric Water sample in their backpack to "slot" it into their pending research
aethericpurityresearch5.png

  • When players have 1 or more samples slotted for research, the "Combined Sample Result" at the top of the section shows what the current average Aetheric Purity (aP) value of those samples is, with the goal being as close to 7.0 as possible
  • Slotting a sample does not immediately consume it; samples will only be consumed when players elect to contribute all 3 samples

Combined Sample Result
  • When a player has 3 Aetheric Water samples slotted for research, they can now click the "Contribute Sample" button to combine their three samples and contribute them for research
  • The amount of EventScore the player will receive is based on the Combined Sample Result's proximity to 7.0, and is listed as "+X Event Score from Aetheric Purity"
  • Players can electively click the "Clear Sample" button at any point to start over and unslot their current samples (i.e. reset)

EventScore Earned From Samples
Players earn Event Score for their sample based on the best range it falls into from the list below:
aP Range
Event Score
Within 6.95 to 7.05 aP
+75
Within 6.90 to 7.10 aP
+50
Within 6.75 to 7.25 aP
+40
Within 6.5 to 7.5 aP
+30
Within 6.0 to 8.0 aP
+20
Within 5.0 to 9.0 aP
+10
Below 5.0 aP
+5
Above 9.0 aP
+5

Aetheric Water Decay
  • Aetheric Water, while potent, is also somewhat unstable and will expire (delete) 48 hours after being acquired by a player; i.e players have 2 days to contribute them as part of samples
aethericpurityresearch8.png

[EventScore and Rank %
  • Each player has an [EventScore based on how well they do during the event
  • Players can type [EventScore to see their current EventScore for this event (scores are updated hourly)
  • At the end of the event, each player will have an Event Score Rank % determined for them based on how their [EventScore compares to all other players
  • Example: a player who ranked 100th in [EventScore out of 1000 total players will have a Rank % of 90% (since they did better than 90% of all other players)

What Are The Prizes?
  • Prizes for this event are distributed directly to player Bank Boxes at the end of the event
  • Players will receive ALL prizes shown below that their Rank % matches or exceeds
aethericpurityresearch9.png

0-5% Rank: Outlands Collectable Card
5-25% Rank: Runic Conch (random hue)
25-50% Rank: Pure Tidal Pearl (random hue)

The Aetheric Purity Event has concluded! The Avadonian Scholars extend their deepest gratitude to all who aided in this extraordinary research effort. Thanks to the vast trove of Aetheric data collected, they now believe they may be able to unlock the mysterious gates of the Tidal Tomb by tomorrow at 11AM EST.

Over 4,440 participants contributed water samples to this monumental study, with Alpha Nightshade, a notorious ocean-dweller well acquainted with the depths, leading the effort with unmatched dedication. All rewards have now been delivered directly into participant bank boxes. Please note, they are only blessed for 60 minutes. Those who earned the Wave Ornament will receive it tomorrow after the Patch. It was not distributed during event resolution in error.

Scholars now labor through the night, deciphering the secrets within these samples. At dawn, they will lead an expedition into the fabled Tidal Tomb, hoping their knowledge will be enough to survive whatever stirs beneath the surface.
