UO Automap for UO Outlands

Tyr Antilles

Grandmaster
Because UO Assist API was removed with the patch from 2025.03.31, UO Automap no longer works on UO Outlands. ☹️

ORIGINAL POST:
The original UO Automap was released on November 11, 1998 and is a miracle it still works more then 20 years later (https://www.uoguide.com/UOAM:uoamlog). Big thanks to Swunk for giving me the first three files to start back in 2018 and very big thanks to saginata (also saginata on Discord) for modifying UOAM executable to support the larger Outlands map and especially for making it to track characters in Classic UO!

Required files:
1. UO Automap v.9.0.0.0 Beta: https://mega.nz/file/oOwUGa5C#g3UnN6OrT72WkCHEVGB37mG6Lxa8EfaS7LZcMe3SotU

2. Updated executable made by saginata: 2024.06.14a_UO Automap EXE 3 patched by saginata.zip - https://mega.nz/file/Ae5RkLiT#C7xsyem_CwCi13XsGSs6v37VsXcbDue-NKz3JbM4wuE

3. Background map latest version: 2024.10.16a_Automap MAP from in-game world map.zip - https://mega.nz/file/NWhFBTpR#gBGfZ79STPpdkc7Up6rCvqT3jtcsdCAEj5z8eKNdsrs

4. Automap locations for UO Outlands: 2024.12.22a_Automap locations for UO Outlands.zip - https://mega.nz/file/MaR0ST5D#atKk9qU4-hSE4QAF06g6PFitLhjcluiEXqCzPsKDoLA

Very quick installation instructions: 1.download UOAM v.9beta and install it, 2.add the exe made by saginata and start UOAM from it, 3.set the background map for Felucca on FASTER then replace the 4 BMP's with the ones from "Background map latest version", and finally 4.add the "Automap locations".

UO Automap for UO Outlands full installation with explanations:

1.
- Download UO Automap v.9.0.0.0 Beta from the link above, unpack and launch UOAMv9_Install.exe to install it on a folder of your choice where you have full rights.

2.
- Download the updated executable made by saginata from the link above, unpack the file "UOAM3.exe" from this ZIP on the folder where the program was installed and start UO Automap ONLY from it. Make a shortcut or something~!

3.
- To activate UO Outlands map, launch UO Automap, go to menu - Map > UO client data files location - uncheck "Have UOAM locate client data file for you" and write the path to where you have UO Outlands installed. (example: C:\Games\Ultima Online OUTLANDS\). Now you should see the UO Outlands map.
When a message appears saying that map file has changed and UO Auto-Map's data files should be rebuilt, set the performance settings for all maps on SLOWER, with the only exception on Felucca Map on Normal view that need to be set on FASTER.
J20190418_203705.png

Basically, the SLOWER mode load the maps directly from the game files, while FASTER mode create the 4 BMP files on UO Automap folder. These are for the "Normal View" of Felucca:
MAP0-1.BMP
MAP0-2.BMP
MAP0-4.BMP
MAP0-8.BMP

- To install the new background map with elevations that will solve all errors with the default map, close UOAM, download the "Background map latest version" from the top of this post and unpack the files from the ZIP archive to UO Automap folder, overwriting the 4 BMP's.
- Start UO Automap again and you should see the enhanced UO Outlands map imported from the in-game World Map.

If the game files will be changed by a future patch, UOAM will detect this and will replace again the 4 BMP's with "updated" versions. If this happen, this step must be made again, I mean to overwrite the 4 BMP maps again with the one from my ZIP. If the game map change too much I might make a new version of "Background map latest version" and post it here again.

4.
- The last step are the markers: download the latest version of "Automap locations for UO Outlands" from the top of this post and unpack the zip to your UO Automap folder.
- To activate them, go to - Map > Additional Settings > Files tab - and check the recommended UOO files.
Files description:

UOO_Atlas.map [RECOMMENDED]= Marked locations over land and sea (landmarks, caravans, points of interest, body of water, town names, dungeon names, moongates, shrines, houseboats places, scenic on land).
UOO_Common.map [RECOMMENDED]= Marked locations inside towns and other NPC locations over land (shops on town and land including healers, farmers, cobblers, etc., scenic places on towns, others, bridges and gates).
UOO_Dungeons.map [RECOMMENDED]= Marked locations in dungeons (dungeon entrances, gates in dungeons, stairs, gates to towns and all other marked locations in dungeons).
UOO_Houses (obsolete).map [OBSOLETE]= Classic houses over land (no longer accurate as many small houses were taken down to build large/custom ones. This file wasn't that useful in the first place since UO Automap can only show the old UO houses, not Outlands custom ones).
UOO_Mobs (obsolete).map [OBSOLETE]= Monsters on UO Outlands imported from Ultima Mapper (It wasn't updated for a very long time now. Most likely many of the monsters changed).
UOO_Personal.map [RECOMMENDED]= Empty file. Note here important places for you. Make backup to not lose it by mistake at the next update!
UOO_PVPLocations.map [RECOMMENDED]= Factions waypoints and castles, beacons in dungeons, town struggles and all other important PVP locations.
UOO_T-Map_Witchers.map [RECOMMENDED]= Treasure Map spots from the great "Witcher's (updated) Guide to Tmaps" (https://forums.uooutlands.com/index...hy-you-should-be-running-your-own-tmaps.3439/)
UOO_Treasure.map [RECOMMENDED]= Treasure chests locations in dungeons.
UOO_Vendors.map [RECOMMENDED]= All the merchants listed on outlandmalls with the last date they were updated.

UO Automap should now be set up correctly.

Classic UO (CUO) built-in World Map support (not updated in a while): See the thread called "Classic UO internal World Map marked locations imported from UO Automap" (https://forums.uooutlands.com/index...rked-locations-imported-from-uo-automap.3657/).

I am not sure for how long I will keep doing this, but I plan to update UO Automap locations for UO Outlands from time to time, hoping to expand little by little the known places and the accuracy of the map.

Added lots of new markers and corrected almost all markers I had access to over land and some dungeons. Less on islands since I don't have a boat. From here I guess the updates will be at larger intervals because I did almost all I could alone. The good thing is that right now the map is really detailed.

Also, be aware that some of the Crimsongates and possible Goldengates inside the dungeons can be moved on other places as Owyn stated in 2019.01.07:
"Owyn: @everyone We have been working on dungeons over the last few days as you may have noticed!
In most cases, spawns were thinned slightly to clear the way and give a bit of breathing room in narrow hallways. In particular: Inferno, Mausoleum, Aegis Keep, Pulma, Ossuary, Nusero and Mount Petram.
Additionally, Red gates in Inferno, Mausoleum and Pulma have been slightly relocated closer to the entrance to level 3 and away from high-tier content."

If some of you who use Automap notice such a change, please mark them (on a temporary map file) and replay here with the change. Or simply post old gate coordinates and new gate coordinates on the map and I will do the change.

I really need your help to expand the markers on the map further. If any of you want to help me improve the map, please post here in replay to this thread, the coordinates x and y along with descriptions of the new markers.

Example1: x=1356 y=2160 Lizardmen Fort
Example2: x=5774 y=223 Teleporter to Aegis Keep

I will include them in the map to be available for download with the next update.
I deeply appreciate any help. Thank you.

With this update I didin't added many new markers but I clened old categories and placed many existing markers on their correct place.
I have decided to include the Sosarian markers for the classical UO too, so you can easy switch between UO Outlands and other UO based on the classical UO map.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqtI3rSJQnG_klc2nwfPlzulRAPH

- Added Bosses and mini-bosses locations on dungeons. Added entrances and exits with directions to all levels in all dungeons.
- There is currently an error on the map at Inferno LVL1 only, where a portion of the old Sosaria map (the solen hive) covers a part of the dungeon. [[EDIT: In Update 012 I found a way to repair this error and other two errors I discovered in the meantime.]]]
- Added some more chests on the map.

Modified the buildings in Prevalia to reflect the latest map change after the patch from Februay 25. Some other minor improvements in dungeons and over land. Honestly, is not too much to do at this point, that's why the updates will be at much larger intervals.
