GUIDE UO Automap for UO Outlands

#1
If you already have UO Automap installed and set up to work with UO Outlands, just unpack on it's folder the most recent background map and marked locations:
- Background map latest version (~4Mb): 2020.05.13b_Automap MAP from Cartographer.rar -
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqtI3rSJQnG_liANscvXkBi5pDW3?e=G8CG86
- Marked locations latest version (for UO Automap, UO Cartographer and CUO built-in world map) (~63Kb): 2020.05.28c_Automap locations for UO Outlands.rar - https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqtI3rSJQnG_liWf8yyEH0KkdjGo?e=Kb2Mo0
Be careful to NOT overwrite your "UOO_Personal.map" to not lose your personal marked locations.

If not, read below.

Ultima Mapper for UO Outlands is indeed an outstanding work, but I decided to map the land in UO Automap for my personal use. Big thanks to Swunk for giving me the first three files to start.
If anyone else want to use it, here it is:

J20190418_211538.png

Installation:
- Download UO Automap v.9.0.0.0 Beta from
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqtI3rSJQnG_lW3HyaPBn3HTUEq8?e=ZUUYBL
- Unpack and launch UOAMv9_Install.exe to install UO Automap on a folder of your choice where you have full rights.
- Start UO Automap from UOAM (Single Client): uoam_locked.exe. This one works with UOSteam and the new Classic UO. To have it track your character in CUO you need to open first UO Steam and launch the old UO (it doesn't matter if you login or not), then on top of it CUO and last one UO Automap Single Client (uoam_locked.exe).
(if anyone needs an older version, here it is UO Automap v.8.3.0.0 and pre-extracted maps of Sosaria:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqtI3rSJQnG_kkuXZfE08OZ1N9M8 )

- To activate UO Outlands map, launch UO Automap, go to menu - Map > UO client data files location - uncheck "Have UOAM locate client data file for you" and write the path to where you have UO Outlands installed. (example: C:\Games\Ultima Online OUTLANDS\). Now you should see UO Outlands map.
When a message appears saying that map file has changed and UO Auto-Map's data files should be rebuilt, set the performance settings for all maps on SLOWER. This way the map will be loaded from UO Outlands files directly. The only exception should be Felucca Map on Normal view (read below).

- To install the new background map with elevations that will solve all errors with default map, go to UO Automap menu Map > Felucca Map Performance Settings and for "Normal View" set the slider to FASTER:
J20190418_203705.png

Hit OK and the building process will start:

J20190418_203710.png

After some time, 4 BMP files will be created on UO Automap folder:
MAP0-1.BMP
MAP0-2.BMP
MAP0-4.BMP
MAP0-8.BMP
- Close UO Automap.
- At this point download the updated background map from the top of this post and unpack the files from the RAR archive to UO Automap folder, overwriting the 4 BMP's.
- Start UO Automap again and you should see the enhanced UO Outlands map created with UO Cartographer.
If, for whatever reason you want the older "flat" version, just change back "Felucca Map Performance Settings" pulling the slider all the way to slower. The BMP's will be deleted.

- The last step are the markers: download the latest version of UO Outlands marked locations from the top of this post and unpack the zip to your UO Automap folder.
- To activate them, go to - Map > Additional Settings > Files tab - and check all UOO files except UOO_Mobs.map.

UO Automap should now be set up correctly.

Files description:
Right now the contents of the UOO .map files is a bit mixed up because cleaning them require a LOT of effort, but they should be like described below:
UOO_Atlas.map = Marked locations over land and sea (landmarks, caravans, points of interest, body of water, town names, dungeon names, moongates, shrines, houseboats places, scenic on land).
UOO_Common.map = Marked locations inside towns and other NPC locations over land (shops on town and land including healers, farmers, cobblers, etc., scenic places on towns, others, bridges and gates).
UOO_Dungeons.map = Marked locations in dungeons (dungeon entrances, gates in dungeons, stairs, gates to towns and all other marked locations in dungeons).
UOO_Houses.map = Classic houses over land (no longer accurate as many small houses were taken down to build large/custom ones. This file wasn't that useful in the first place since UO Automap can only show the old UO houses, not Outlands custom ones. You may want to disable this file, but I will keep including it for reference).
UOO_Mobs.map = Monsters on UO Outlands imported from Ultima Mapper (wasn't updated for almost an year now. Most likely some of the monsters changed).
UOO_Personal.map = Note here important places for you (Empty file. Each player should note here places relevant to himself. Make backup to not lose it by mistake at the next update).
UOO_Treasure.map = Treasure chests locations in dungeons.
UOO_Vendors.map = Several of the vendor houses on Outlands with last checked date. Not intended to be up to date or comprehensive.

Classic UO (CUO) support:
UO Automap works now with Classic UO (CUO) client, besides the 2D client started with UO Steam or Razor. This require to open first one instance of the 2D client, then CUO, then UO Automap in this order. For details look at this post:
http://forums.uooutlands.com/index.php?threads/uo-automap-for-uo-outlands.1378/post-12321

* * *
Classic UO (CUO) built-in World Map support:
UO Automap markers work now with the world map provided by the CUO client . To activate them unpack the following files from the RAR archive (marked locations latest version from the top of this post) on \ClassicUO\Data\Client\ folder (Example: c:\Program Files\OUTLANDS Ultima Online\ClassicUO\Data\Client\).
UOO_Atlas.map
UOO_Common.map
UOO_Dungeons.map
UOO_Treasure.map
UOO_Vendors.map
Houses and mobs are not useful and will only clutter the map too much. UOO_Personal.map is good to add from your personalized UO Automap, if you added on that file your personal locations. UOO_Vendors.map is also optional because many vendors were changed and this file is not up to date.

Usage:
Here is a short explanation of how to use it more effective:
- Zoom + / - : mouse wheel.
- Pan the map: arrow keys = large pan steps, CTRL + arrow keys = small pan steps. To go to a location: right-click > move cursor here.

- To have UO Automap border-less and always on top: double click on it.
- To set a destination: right-click the desired destination location and "Drop or pickup marker". It will show you in which direction is the destination. To remove it right-click again the same option.
- Show labels: CTRL+S
- Hide labels: CTRL+H
- To see inside the caves and underground activate from menu Map > X-Ray View
- To hide/show categories: CTRL+F
- To locate to nearest desired point of a category from your location: CTRL+F > right-click category > Drop marker on nearest. (for example, to locate the nearest healer to your location hit CTRL+F, press h to jump to h letter locations, right-click healer on the list and hit "Drop marker on nearest"). Same with Places tab.

I am not sure for how long I will keep doing this, but I plan to update UO Automap locations for UO Outlands from time to time, hoping to expand little by little the known places and the accuracy of the map.

Added lots of new markers and corrected almost all markers I had access to over land and some dungeons. Less on islands since I don't have a boat. From here I guess the updates will be at larger intervals because I did almost all I could alone. The good thing is that right now the map is really detailed.

- - -
Also, be aware that some of the Crimsongates and possible Goldengates inside the dungeons can be moved on other places as Owyn stated in 2019.01.07:
"Owyn: @everyone We have been working on dungeons over the last few days as you may have noticed!
In most cases, spawns were thinned slightly to clear the way and give a bit of breathing room in narrow hallways. In particular: Inferno, Mausoleum, Aegis Keep, Pulma, Ossuary, Nusero and Mount Petram.
Additionally, Red gates in Inferno, Mausoleum and Pulma have been slightly relocated closer to the entrance to level 3 and away from high-tier content."

If some of you who use Automap notice such a change, please mark them (on a temporary map file) and replay here with the change. Or simply post old gate coordinates and new gate coordinates on the map and I will do the change.

I really need your help to expand the markers on the map further. If any of you want to help me improve the map, please post here in replay to this thread, the coordinates x and y along with descriptions of the new markers.

Example1: x=1356 y=2160 Lizardmen Fort
Example2: x=5774 y=223 Teleporter to Aegis Keep

I will include them in the map to be available for download with the next update.
I deeply appreciate any help. Thank you.

With this update I didin't added many new markers but I clened old categories and placed many existing markers on their correct place.
I have decided to include the Sosarian markers for the classical UO too, so you can easy switch between UO Outlands and other UO based on the classical UO map.

Update 005 (outdated) = UO Automap locations for UO Outlands v.2019.01.20a.zip
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqtI3rSJQnG_klc2nwfPlzulRAPH

- Added Bosses and mini-bosses locations on dungeons. Added entrances and exits with directions to all levels in all dungeons.
- There is currently an error on the map at Inferno LVL1 only, where a portion of the old Sosaria map (the solen hive) covers a part of the dungeon. [[EDIT: In Update 012 I found a way to repair this error and other two errors I discovered in the meantime.]]]
- Added some more chests on the map.
